BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh government on Saturday said that there won’t be any power cuts in the households across the state from January.
The state government’s statement assumes significance given that it has come barely two months after the state witnessed power cuts ranging from one to 12 hours daily.
“The households in the entire state would get 24-hour power supply from January,” MP energy minister Rajendra Shukla told people at the function at Morena district on Thursday.
The minister said an investment of Rs 10,000 crore has been made in power sector under reforms adding that the electricity distribution lines were being bifurcated in rural areas to agriculture and household purpose on a war-footing. He informed that Rs 200 crore has already been used to bifurcate power supply line in Morena district alone.” Efforts are underway to generate 5000 Mega Watt (mw) more power in MP,” Shukla said.
Right now, MP government is working on a plan akin to Gujarat wherein the rural power distribution lines had been bifurcated to households and agricultural usage. As a result of this, the power distribution scenario was too good in that state’s rural area.
